Have You Taken Elmiron for More Than One Year?
Elmiron is a drug prescribed to treat Painful Bladder Syndrome (PBS). PBS is clinically called Interstitial Cystitis (IC).
What You Need To Know About Elmiron
If you have taken Elmiron for four years or longer, you may develop a rare but severe and irreversible eye disease called Retinal Maculopathy or Pigmentary Maculopathy. This disease is seldom seen outside of a patient taking Elmiron. Elmiron is also pentosan polysulfate sodium, or PPS.
Have You Suffered From Any of These Conditions?
Poor light to dark adaptation
Change in eye color
Blurred vision
Difficulty reading
Dark spots in vision
Straight lines appear curved
Muted, less vivid colors
Poor light to dark adaption means that it can take 5-10 minutes for your eyes to adjust to a darker room. The normal adaption time is 5-10 seconds to adjust. This is like walking into a room and not being able to focus for 5-10 minutes.
This Condition is Serious and Irreversible
If you have taken Elmiron and been diagnosed with “pattern dystrophy” or “age-related macular degeneration,” you could still have a disease caused by Elmiron.
Your regular eye doctor can provide results from tests you already have in your file.
This damage to the eye CANNOT be reversed.
